      The Galileo thermometer uses Archimedes' principle to display temperature. It consists of several glass balls filled with different colored liquids that have different densities. As the temperature increases, the fluids expand and move upward through the spheres. The temperature is indicated by the distinctive ball on which an attached temperature scale can be read.
